At Our School - Puma Marca

Our school is at Puma Marca, which you can actually find on a Google Earth map - provided you know which roads to follow up into the mountains outside Cusco! (It is not marked!)

(Left - part of the school buildings - the door on the right leads to the Principal's Office)

(Right - this outdoor facility - a bit like an open air stage is used for a variety of classes, as well as announcements, and the farewells to the departing volunteers. Here students are using it for art classes.)

Here are some shots taken around our school. We have all classes from Kindie to Year 6, with separate class rooms for each. We have separate teachers for each class too. The buildings have all been constructed over the last 6 years.

(Left - our playground - not overly elaborate, but still very usable)

(Right - our see saws are a little bit out of shape - but still work well)

(Left - this covered area is available for lunches, and some functions. Whilst there it was used for the Father's Day festival, when the local fathers attended, and were served barbeque chicken)

(Right - the students busy with their art work.)

(Left - the field above the school has been planted with wheat. Just before we left, many of the locals turned up to harvest the wheat - by hand!)

(Right - the kindergarten with its play equipment)

(Left - our swings are a little crude, but still work well!)

(Right - older siblings must look after their younger sisters)

(Left - "Push hard!")

(Right - the swing is the same the world over!)

(Left - Liza from the Office staff walks across the playground)

(Right - the art class - This was interesting, as the students appeared to be painting plastic banners in the multi coloured stripes of Cusco. Days later they were worn as dance costumes during a function)
