Day 9 - Elephant Park - Cutting Corn

Today's duty was to collect some (actually a LOT) corn green for the elephants. The green is actually the part of the corn plant that grows above the cob. The farmer wants the cob for sale, and so we go through the field and snap of the part of the plant directly above the cob.

(R - We arrive at the field and are given our instructions by Chia)

(L - Our group prepares for the work - in the background is the truck which we need to load.)



(R - Our team goes in to attack the corn field)

(L - Chia demonstrates the correct merthod for snapping off the corn stalks)

(R - The corn tops that we have snapped off are collected and tied into bundles for collection

(R - On the road back home we pass one of the elephants that carries tourists)

(R - At the clinic one of the elephants has an ear infection sprayed)


(L - In mid afternoon, the elephants come out to feed on the raised area




(R - Out on our elephant walk, we feed another elephant

(L - One of the elephants spends it days under the house)




(R - This is the grave of one of the elephants that passed away some months ago)
